Meet The Team
Nikki Pretorius (Founder) – With a corporate background and as a third generation philanthropist, Nikki entered the Non-profit sector in 2010 when assisting at the social services organisation where her Mom is the Chairperson. She fell in love with the industry and never looked back. She resigned and joined the ACVV Koeberg with a portfolio of Fundraising, Marketing, Project Management and Community development. It is here that she started her first preschool, Clever Kids Academy, for the ACVV Koeberg.
Whilst at the ACVV Koeberg, she met Carla Ferreira at SAVE Volunteering who started placing volunteers at her first preschool. Eventually Nikki joined SAVE Foundation as a Manager on condition that she can continue her work in Skandaalkamp. She left SAVE in October 2015 and now works full time in Wolwerivier with the assistance of the awesome SAVE volunteers and occasional interns!
In July 2016 she did her level 5 First Aid and now also looks after the health and well-being of the desperately neglected community.

My name is Demi Bodine and I am a teacher living in Louisville, Kentucky. I love children, being outdoors, traveling, baking, and spending time with family. I visited Cape Town when I was in college and spent time volunteering with Nikki! I think about my time there often, and can’t wait until I can return with my husband!
Demi was one of our first volunteers when Sunshine was no more than a shack filled with children! She has gone above and beyond since with massive donations and fundraising campaigns including sending hundreds of gifts for our Christmas campaign from America!
Sophie Pearce volunteered with us while we were preparing the shack for Sunshine to start – before it even started! She fell deeply in love with our project and took the message home with her. She was our very first monthly sponsor and continues to support us every month!
Her return trip included Mom Alison and sister Kate who similarly fell in love and spread the message!
Alison got loads of her colleagues and friends involved in knitting winter woollies for the children for our first few winter campaigns. The family also involved their church and ran a couple of fundraising campaigns in aid of Sunshine!
Ellie Mules and family
Ellie is a returning volunteer who is currently studying to become a paediatric nurse in the UK. With a passion for children, she has invested a lot of time and effort in assisting us in developing a curriculum for the children. She continues to assist and returns often to help at the school.
Once she is qualified, she hopes to return to help us not only at the preschool but also in our new clinic.
